Military watches were produced for the war effort by Bulova, Elgin, Hamilton, Waltham and Benrus (Vietnam) under contract to the U.S. Government. There were sweep-second hand watches with hacking devices, and standard sub-second hand varieties. We proudly present to you some of the best vintage military watches available. Our watches are 100% authentic and conform to military specifications. We have a large inventory of military watch parts and components. Our cases, dials and hands are original or new-old-stock. Occasionally we have watch hands refinished when the original radium has deteriorated (it can also be dangerous, although after 60 years the threat is significantly reduced). We also procure authentic and genuine government-issued wrist straps when available. We add new crystals and waterproof gaskets as well as winding crowns and gaskets. You are buying an authentic and genuine war-issued watch that is like-new. We stand behind our watches, and offer a guarantee. Since we have the parts available, we can provide service for you as needed. Take a look through our inventory. Your comments are always welcome. As with all our watches, upon your inquiry, we will send additional photos of the watch, including the movement and a short video of it running. Price is $325.
U.S.M.C Koren War Bulova 15J 10BM U.S. 1917-H This watch comes with a great story. I acquired this watch and put it away. When I looked at it again I thought it was a watch I had already restored - but it wasn't running! Then, I couldn't get the case back cover off! I had the right tool, but it wouldn't budge! I thought, "How could I put it on so tight...I never do that!" I finally took it to a watch case specialist and he got it open. I then realized I had never touched this watch before! It was completely pristine (Except for a slight blemish on the dial below the "B" on Bulova from the radium hands being stuck in one place for 60 years!) I cleaned and oiled the movement and it jumped back to life. The case is nearly perfect - including the original gaskets and crystal! This movement does not have a Bulova civilian watch movement date mark on it - it only has a serial number 25118. This guarentees it's a military issue movement and dial. Since the 10BM followed the 10AK in Bulova production, it must be a post-WWII military watch and therefore Koren War-era. The Case back cover says, "U.S. 1917-H" which is military-code for a U.S.M.C.-issued Ordinance watch. Inside of the case cover says, "Star Watch Case Co. Stainless Steel 2403908 7197108" I put NOS military surplus springbar pins in it and added an authentic NOS Olive Green military-issue, one-piece water resistant strap. This is the real deal, the real McCoy (as are all my watches!) that makes a great gift watch that is reasonably priced at $349 SOLD
Waltham 6/0 - '42 16J Type A-11 Hacking with Wadsworth Case. This is a completely original navigators issue from WWII. The hands have a little fading but are original, and dial looks like a NOS but is original as well - not a scratch on it! The case is a heavy Wadsworth-signed case that shined up nice and has the original crown as well. The cool part is it comes with the original strap in very good condition...a khaki-colored two-piece strap with the plastic buckle. There are a couple of well-worn button holes but really vintage and nice. It even has the original brass springbars in excellent condition! This watch has been serviced and is running strong and in excellent condition. The movement is super-clean and no scratches on the bridges. Case back cover reads, "Type A-II, SPEC NO. 94--27834-B, SER. NO AF 44-8253, MFR'S PART NO 10616, ORD. NO. W-11-107AC-266, WALTHAM WATCH CO." Comes with a new crystal and crystal gasket. Priced at $349. SOLD

Vietnam-era Timex Waterproof and Waltham Survival Compass. This is a personal equipment set of Vietnam War watch and compass. The Watch is a green plastic (disposable) cased Timex, in pristine condition, that says "Water Resistant" on the dial and "Waterproof" on the back. It also says, "Assembled in the Phipippines" with a "70" marking on the back case cover. Neither has been serviced, but the watch runs strong and accurate and the air-filled compass is working normally. The Compass has a couple small scratch marks/cracking on the crystal (there are no known replacements) but is otherwise in top condition. It has an olive green case with only wear through in two places at the lugs on the back side. The Timex is an olive green, one-piece plastic case in fine condition and only a few surface scratches on the crystal - no wear through anywhere. The dial is pristine as are the hands. We have NOT attempted to service this Timex since it is running strong, and keeping accurate time and is well sealed in this case. They both come on a single, one-piece olive-brown period military watch strap with black anodized buckle. Really a great collector's itme for the Vietnam Vet, or as a gift for the hero in your life. We don't know much about the watch except it is authentic Vietnam-era and was probably owned by a Vet. It does not appear to be a government-issued watch, but again, we are uncertain as to it's legacy. We do know the "W.C.C." on the compass stands for "Waltham Compass Company" and these compasses were shipped to Vietnam during the war by the Waltham Watch Company. Go to http://olive-drab.com/od_soldiers_gear_compass_wrist.php for more information about them. The pair and watch strap are priced at $299

1943 Bulova 16J 10AKcsh U.S. Marine-Issued Military ORD Watch. This is a beautiful example of an authenic, original WWII military Bulova watch. The movement, with a date mark (x) for 1943, is in nearly perfect condition and is running strong. It has its original dust cover and the case back gasket was still in very good condition and was re-used. The case back cover says, "U.S 1917-H" which is the designation of watches issued to the U.S. Marine Corps. This is possibly an Marine avaitors variant. Normally Marine-issued watches had white dials, but white dials may have been issued for sub-second watches only. This watch has a fantastic case with little to no wear and no pitting. The original hands are in excellent condition. Crown looks new and may be a replacement. It has the original crystal which has only slight scratching that does not detract (but imperfections do appear in the high-resolution photo). 1965 Vietnam War-era Plastic Case "Throw-Away" MIL-W-46374. Excellent example of an early and rare plastic case U.S. Military disposable watch from Vietnam. These watches were produced for the U.S. Military by Benrus and Belforte Watch Co. using the ETA 2372 movement...same as found in the more common Benrus DR2F2 Hacking watch variant. This has a 7 jewel Belforte ETA 2372 movement. Being disposal, and because it says on the back case cover, "U.S. Wrist Watch (Non-Maintainable)," and as such these watches were known as the "Throw-Away" military watch because when they stopped working you simply threw them away! There were no parts available to maintain them in the field as was the military system in WWII and the Korean War. Therefore, few survive. In addition to the script above, the watch says on the back, "Fed Stock No. 6645-952-3767 Mfg.Part No.11K11850, Cont. No. DA-36-038-AMC-2030(W) Serial No. 081499, Date: Mar. 1965." The plastic green-color case was in perfect condition yet a little faded, and the watch movement is in pristine condition. It had never been opened so the dial and hands and movement were in perfect condition. Runs strong. Comes with it's original G.I. strap with authentic Vietnam dirt! We added a new crystal. This is the perfect gift for the Vietnan Vet in your life, or to bring back the memories of the war period in your life. This is actually on consignment from a Vietnam Veteran who was there in '64-'65 so you purchase goes to help support a hero's retirement! Priced at $299.

WWII Elgin 539 16J A-11 Hacking. This hard-to-find 539 Elgin movement is pristine and strong running condition. Serial No. T418538. The case back cover on this watch was worn-down by strap rubbing and some of the writing is unreadable. It says, "A.F. U.S. Army, Type A11, Spec....7834B, ORD NO. W3....-1321, ELGIN." The inside of the back case cover says, "Cased and Timed by Elgin National Watch Co. STAR CASE CO. 5456583" and the main case (its a three-piece casing) is also stamped "56583" showing it is the original set. It also tells me it is an early 1940's watch because you normally do not see the serial stamp on the case. The dial and hands are perfect - cool blue and while sweep second hand. It has a gold crown and black one-piece strap with gold buckle that are likely not original. The crytsal looks cloudy in the photo but is doesn't have any distracting marks when viewed up close. This is just a really nice, genuine and authentic, Second World War aviators hacking watch available for $395.

WWII-era Waltham 6/0-D 17J Hacking "Military-style" Watch. This is NOT a government ordinance department military watch. IT IS, however, a gorgeous war-era Waltham civilian model with a "Waltham, Keystone, J.Boss, 10k Gold Filled" watch case, Serial No. 8077610 as written on the inside of the GF snap-back case cover. The case and bezel have no wear-through or major scratches evidenced. There is one small flaw on the edge of the case back cover where it meets the bezel from someone using the wrong tool to open itI, but it is not noticeable. The watch is equipped with the same 17 jewel 6/0-D Waltham movement with hack mechanism as issued to the military - and therefore, I have included it in our military section of watches. I am curious to know whether this might be a watch that was issued to a high-ranking officer, especially since it comes with the hack movement? Comments are welcome! In any case, its just beautiful. The movement is super-clean and spotless. Great two-tone dial with excellent blue hands and a new crystal. I added a really nice NOS stitched "Bisonte Genuino" (Genuine Bison) import strap from "Diloy" with gold buckle. This watch is truly beatuiful and is a special watch being offered at $395.

XZ73065, FED STOCK NO. 6645-066-4279, WRIST WATCH GG-W-113, CONT. NO. GS-06S-4804, SERIAL NO. 003945 DATE OCT 1970. It is exactly the same as the one below, except issued in 1970. Will come with a new plastic crystal and one-piece vintage surplus strap. I always double-check and inspect my watches before they ship (I can't wind them all every day!), which can take a few days, and then I install the crystal. I truly fine Vietnam War Ordinance watch for $375.

1958 Bulova 10BNCH Hacking Navigation A17A. A Post-Korean War/Pre-Vietnam War MIL-W-6433A pilots navigation watch in exceptional condition. Completely original. Likely one of the last 10BNCH watches procured by the military before the Vietnam War and before new specifications were issued. The dial is original and pristine, hands are nearly perfect with the only exception being a slight paint loss on the minute hand at the hole. This is one of the most perfect military watch movements I have seen - there are no service marks inside the case back cover and everything is mint. The case was nearly flawless as well and had excellent crystal, case and stem seals that were re-used. The case back cover has a few minor scratches but screws on perfectly. Comes with the original movement ring and dustcap as usual. New acrylic crystal installed before shipping and after inspecting and testing. The back cover reads, "WATCH NAVIG., TYPE A17A, SPEC MIL-W-6433A, MGF. BULOVA PART NO. 10BNCH, MGF. SERIAL NO. 228, ORDER NUMBER DA-36-038-ORD-20328, STOCK NO. 8TAA-993000-24, U.S. PROPERTY" SOLD

This is a little different offering. A New-Old-Stock Longiness-Wittnauer Military Compass. Stamped "U.S." on the Case. As perfect as you can find in a 70-year old WWII Compass. During WWII pocket watch style compasses were made for the Army and Army Air Forces. Airmen, Infantrymen and Paratroopers used the compass, as well as AAF Aircrew in their bailout kits. Compasses were critical for the Infantry and Paratroopers. Some outfits like the Airborne and 1st Cavalry Division saw to it that all of its troops were oriented with the use of a compass. This compass opens like a pocket watch. You press down on the stem the cover slips open. The crystal is new and clear and you can read all the points of the compass. The compass appears to work just fine. There is some oxidation to the pointer and some rubbing which occured to the last letters in "Wittnauer" from the pointer rubbing there inside the box. Comes with the original military-issue box and protective pouch. Priced at $249. |
